ENGROSS'07

A NATIONAL LEVEL TECHNICAL FEST
DECEMBER 28TH – 30TH, 2007.

BUSHEL:- THE CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING CONTEST

CONTEST RULES:-

1)      Each TEAM shall consist of TWO MEMBERS.
2)      The contest will be of TWO LEVELS
                  a) Theoretical   (i.e. ELEMENTARY ROUND)
                  b)   Practical       (i.e. FINAL ROUND)

DETAILS OF EACH LEVEL:-

(a)     THEORETICAL LEVEL:-
For this level, we have a Quiz Competition Type Format, i.e. A Circuit Schematic will be displayed along with the node voltages and circuits deemed necessary. 10 minutes will be given, in which each team will have to work out the solution. Then, when it is their turn to answer, each team will have to specify whether the circuit displayed is correct or faulty, in which case, what the source of the error is.

            SCORING:-
                        (a) Direct Question:-
A Team is awarded 20 POINTS for a   COMPLETELY RIGHT ANSWER on a direct question.
                        (b) Passed Question:-
When one team is unable to answer the question correctly, the question shall be passed to the next team. This will be done only once per question.
A Team is awarded 10 POINTS for a COMPLETELY RIGHT ANSWER on a passed question.

However, there is a 50% NEGATIVE MARKING for a PARTIALLY CORRECT OR A WRONG ANSWER.

(b)    PRACTICAL LEVEL:-
For this level, each selected team will be given a set of FIVE MULTISIM CIRCUITS. It will be the task of each team to verify whether or not the output observed from the simulation is correct and if it is not correct, they will have to pinpoint the fault/faults in the circuit. In this round, the necessary node voltages and/or currents will not be given. The participants will have to observe them from the simulation directly.
A total of 100 minutes will be given for troubleshooting all the circuits.

SCORING:-
For each completely and correctly troubleshooted circuit, 50 POINTS will be awarded. If the solution is not completely correct, the marks awarded will be lesser, but there will be NO NEGATIVE MARKING.
